Raila Odinga has mastered the art of
holding hostage a ruling government which he is not party to. His remarks that
Jubilee was rigged in is a statement not for today but for tomorrow. The major
purpose is to undo what Mutahi Ngunyi did; making Kenyans believe in Tyranny of numbers. Raila is reassuring his
supporters that they can outdo jubilee if they remain united and jubilee does
not rig. Uhuru and Ruto must know that Raila is their foe and they have wounded
him; not once but twice. In Machiavellian politics, a wounded foe should be
destroyed completely or they will surely come back with a thorough retaliation.
If the Wetang'ula election conspiracy was the Jubilee make-up for destroying
the strength of the triumvirate, then the strategy has strengthened the cord
coalition further. The troubles Ruto is undergoing at his home yard is a
worrying signal of things to come. What should jubilee do and how???
Firstly, jubilee MUST wrest one region of ethnic group from CORD. The hunting zone should be Kisii, which has shown feeble signs of ease in drifting from the Lake to the Mountain; their distant cousins.
Secondly, Jubilee MUST undermine the work of Joho if it cannot co-opt him. I prefer the later which might be very difficult if he clinches the ODM deputy party leader post making the options limited to making his work difficult. Devolution in itself is a difficulty that posses so many interests that the Governor cannot fulfill. (Only if the land issue in Coast and issuance of title and the Lamu port project and Lapsset do not woo the coastarians)
Thirdly, the luhyia zone is difficult to woo. The Bukusu region had been sympathetic to PNU but with the exit of Wetang'ula, things are no longer the same. The other parts like Kakamega and Busia have been largely assimilated by Luos both socially and politically. in fact, it is easier for a luhyia from among the Samia and Bakhayo in Busia who find it easier to say they are Luos than Luhyias. Unless variables change out of destiny, the situation will not change by design. Jubilee should keep off this area but must support, in cognito, the idea of a luhyia presidential candidate come 2017. Wetang'ula should be given fame so that his head swells with pride just as it happened with Matiba in 1992. This coupled with Raila's fast falling star is a recipe for creating chaos in the CORD camp come 2017. Calls for Raila to support Kalonzo and Wetang'ula for office may just come from the CORD internal machination. Why destroy a foe when he can destroy himself???
For the Kisii, a few more senior position appointments should do. HOW?? When you give a planned bias, let the a few jubilee members make noise about the bias by giving the Kisii community more positions. Then let them make a tactical withdrawal and leave Cord to make the rest of the noise about the bias towards the community. CORD likes it when a complaint against jubilee comes from jubilee so they will spread the gospel with vigour as usual. The gospel will destroy cord's hold on the community and it will give jubilee sympathizers ample time to woo the community to Jubilee.
Lastly, Jubilee must work to destroy CORD from within. The experiment of dividing Kambaland along Muthama-Mutua loyalties might just work if Kalonzo plays second fiddle to Raila. This will make the Kalonzo-Wetangula call formidable from within Cord-if Raila doesn’t give in, CORD will destroy itself, if he does, the Kalonzo-Wetangula will be very popular, threateningly popular but the bottom-line is that it will be a bunch of broke fellows making an absurdity out of touch with economics of politics.
